Helena Mackenzie, PhD, LP


Dr. Mackenzie received her degree in clinical psychology from Kent State University in 2001 and has been a Senior Clinical Psychologist at HCMC since 2005. She primarily provides assessment and therapy services in the Adult Therapy Clinic, where she is part of the Hennepin Women’s Mental Health Program. Dr. Mackenzie considers herself a generalist with a special interest in women’s mental health and parenting. Additional clinical interests include anxiety and mood disorders, complex trauma (particularly working with survivors of childhood neglect and abuse), and young adult mental health. Dr. Mackenzie’s treatment approach is integrative, incorporating psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing interventions. She is a member of MINT (Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers). Dr. Mackenzie supervises psychology interns and post-doctoral fellows in all of the above areas.

In addition to her work at HCMC, Dr. Mackenzie is a mental health consultant to the Department of Labor’s Job Corps Program, the nation’s largest residential vocational training program for at-risk youth, where she provides consultation and training to center health and wellness staff.
