Surgery - Kidney Transplant and Vascular Access
Ellen is a Nurse Practitioner in the surgery department at Hennepin County Medical Center, specializing in the care of renal transplant patients. She earned a BS degree in Nursing and a minor in Sociology from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. She is a Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator and completed an MA degree in Nursing at the College of St. Catherine. She is certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She belongs to the Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau, and is a member of the American Society of Transplantation.
Ellen has enjoyed working with renal patients since 1978, starting in the dialysis intensive care unit at HCMC and the Transplant Clinic as a Transplant Clinical Coordinator until 1997. As a nurse practitioner she practiced for seven years with a private nephrology group and re-joined HCMC in the Surgery Department in 2003. Her practice currently involves both in-patient and out-patient care of kidney transplant recipients and living kidney donor patients at HCMC.
