Ashajyothi Siddappa, MD


Dr. Siddappa is an Assistant Professor and staff Neonatologist, Department of Pediatrics, Hennepin County Medical center, affiliated with the University of Minnesota. She received her MD degree (MBBS) from JJM Medical College, Davanagere, and Mysore University, India. She completed her pediatric residency, Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from Bangalore University, and Diplomat of National Board (DNB) examination in Pediatrics, India. Dr. Siddappa worked in the United Kingdom at Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and at Regional Neonatal Center, Royal Maternity Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland gaining extensive training in neonatology and pediatric subspecialties.

She completed her residency program in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Minnesota. She is board certified in Pediatrics and in neonatal-perinatal medicine. She is involved in research in perinatal nutrition mainly studying the effects of early iron deficiency in the developing brain. Dr. Siddappa’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, pediatric research and neonatology. She has presented her research work in the United States and abroad. Her areas of interest include neonatal nutrition, neurodevelopment and medication safety.

She recently became a Fellow of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH).
