Commitment to Patient-Centered Care

"As a nurse-midwife, I work to form partnerships with women and their families by providing education and support as women navigate the changing stages of their lives and within their bodies. My hope is for women to be empowered through this partnership and be active participants in their health-care experiences."

Clinical Expertise

Cassie is a member of the Hennepin County Medical Center Certified Nurse-Midwife Service. The Nurse-Midwife Service is a practice of Certified Nurse-Midwives who care for women throughout their life, including during pregnancy, labor and birth.

Cassie completed her nursing studies at the University of Minnesota and her midwifery education at Frontier Nursing University. Frontier has the distinction of being the oldest nurse-midwifery education program in the U.S. and boasts a rich history of equipping nurse-midwives to work in underserved communities. Prior to becoming a nurse-midwife, Cassie worked as a labor and birth nurse caring for both low and high-risk women. In addition, she is a fluent Spanish speaker, having earned a B.A. in Spanish linguistics and lived in South America prior to becoming a health-care provider.

Cassie's special interests include working with teen mothers, immigrant women (particularly women experiencing their first pregnancy and birth in the U.S.), and fertility awareness methods of family planning (natural family planning).
