Clinical Expertise

Dr. Marchion Hinton, a clinical psychologist, works in family medicine as faculty to Family Medicine residents and behavioral health clinician to HCMC patients. As an educator within the Family Medicine Residency Program, she helps trainees integrate behavioral science into their medical practice. For instance, she teaches effective doctor-patient communication and lifestyle change strategies such as motivational interviewing. As a behavioral health clinician, Dr. Hinton provides brief assessments and interventions to promote psychological and physical healthiness. She is trained as a generalist and works with both adults and children. She has a strong value in the provision of evidence-based treatments most often working from a cognitive-behavioral orientation.

Dr. Hinton earned her BA in psychology from Butler University, Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Western Michigan University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
