Kent D. Smallwood, PhD, LP


Dr. Smallwood is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Traumatic Brain Injury Outpatient Program, as well as behavioral health psychologist in the primary care medicine clinic. His areas of expertise include the application of 3rd wave behavior therapies to a variety of presenting problems (e.g. addiction, chronic pain, rehabilitation, health management), as well as the training of providers in 3rd wave interventions, case conceptualization, and programmatic implementation, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He has been heavily involved in the ACT research and training community since 2005. He enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, and has done so in numerous settings, including inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and outpatient.
