Reading is Fundamental Fundraiser at Macy's, MOA

Hennepin Health Foundation is excited to announce that Macy’s at the Mall of America has selected HCMC's Children Literacy program as their local partner for their Be Book Smart campaign. Children's Literacy promotes the healthy habit of reading starting at birth to adulthood. Books are distributed during well baby visits and throughout pediatrics. More than 30,000 books are distributed in this manner.

Since 2004, Macy’s has partnered with Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s largest children’s literacy nonprofit, to provide books to children who need them most. Their summer Be Book Smart campaign is an opportunity for Macy’s customers to join the effort and have an impact on literacy in their local communities.

This campaign runs from June 21 to July 12. Customers who donate $3 for RIF at any Macy’s register will receive a $10 coupon to use on a purchase of $30 or more. Macy’s donates the full $3 to RIF and each coupon sold provides a book for a child. RIF will allocate 50% of the books raised by each Macy’s store to its local RIF partner.

We are grateful to be chosen as the literacy partner for Macy's MOA this year. Many of our families tell us that the only books they own are the ones they receive from HCMC. Be a part of this great literacy tale that starts at Macy’s, continues at HCMC, and ends with a child hugging a new book the way some kids hold a beloved toy.
