Emergency Medicine Education: Paramedic Program
HCMC Paramedic Program Director
The Hennepin EMS Education Paramedic program started in March of 2007.
There are two separate sites where the program is offered - at Hennepin EMS Education in Minneapolis and the Brainerd Campus of Central Lakes College.
The Paramedic classes start Summer Session – usually late May or early June - meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-10 pm and approximately one Saturday a month from 8-5. There is also extensive hospital based clinical time and field internship ride time on ambulances in addition to the classroom time. This is not a part-time program.
If you have little or no experience as an EMT (at least 50 verifiable EMS calls as a Lead EMT), a BLS Insternship class through HCMC or Central Lakes College is required.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis. All the admissions requirements must be met prior to being given a slot in the class.
The Hennepin County Medical Center Paramedic Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
