Body System Location: Bones, joints and muscles
The Department of Orthopaedics provides services for a wide spectrum of inpatients and outpatients. A team approach, including nurses, occupational therapy, and social services, is designed to ensure that the patient receives the care and training necessary to resume or improve previous levels of activity. Orthopaedic faculty members advocate immediate fixation of long-bone fractures in multiple-trauma patients to reduce morbidity and mortality.
