Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) offers medication for addiction treatment (MAT) of opioid, alcohol, and tobacco use disorders. Depending on the services needed, treatment is available in either a licensed outpatient addiction treatment program or a traditional office-based medical clinic.

HCMC's Addiction Medicine Program provides methadone and buprenorphine for opioid use disorder, as well as medications for alcohol use disorder, in addition to comprehensive case management, individual and group therapy, addiction education, and mental health services.

HCMC's Addiction Medicine office-based clinic provides assessment and MAT of opioid, alcohol, tobacco, and some sedative use disorders in a lower intensity setting. Comprehensive medical and psychiatric care is available in clinic or in collaboration with other providers. Physician consultations are available. Patients attend visits on a weekly to monthly basis. Insurance or private pay is accepted for these services.

  • Methadone Maintenance Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder
  • Buprenorphine Maintenance Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (e.g., Suboxone®)
  • Alcohol Use Disorder Treatment with Antabuse®, Vivitrol®, or other medications

Pain Management

We do not provide this as a primary service. Please contact the Interventional Pain Clinic.

About our clinics: This is a hospital-based clinic owned by Hennepin County Medical Center. Many insurance plans pay for health care services provided in a hospital-based clinic differently than those provided in a doctor’s office. Your insurance may require that you meet your annual deductible and/or require that you pay a percentage of the bill rather than just an office visit co-payment. You should check with your insurance company if you have any questions. Read our FAQs about hospital-based clinics to learn more.
