Neuropsychology is a specialty concerned with thinking, memory, and learning as it relates to the brain. A neuropsychologist is a licensed psychologist with special training and expertise in assessing and diagnosing thinking and learning problems, and in examining how those problems might be associated with areas of the brain.

A neuropsychological evaluation can:

  • Provide a clear picture of your current level of cognitive functioning
  • Monitor changes in cognitive functioning over time
  • Help identify causes of thinking or memory difficulties
  • Assist in treatment planning or attaining resources

Who should see a Neuropsychologist?

An evaluation is indicated for anyone 5 years or older, with known or suspected difficulties in thinking, memory, or learning. Problems frequently occur within the context of an underlying medical or neurological condition.

Parking at Hennepin County Medical Center

Discounted parking for patients, families and visitors is available in the HCMC Parking Ramp at 6th Street and Park Avenue and the "Hospital" Parking Ramp at 8th and Chicago Avenue. Request a parking validation ticket in your clinic or inpatient unit. Valet parking is also available Monday-Friday at the 7th Street entrances to the Purple and Blue Buildings.
