Hennepin County Medical Center has been serving the needs of children for over a century. The care provided has extended from treating the tiniest of neonates in our Newborn Nursery and Newborn Intensive Care Unit to teenagers and young adults up to age 21 in our Pediatric Emergency Department, Inpatient Unit, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and our downtown and neighborhood clinics. Our board-certified family medicine physicians and pediatric doctors and nurses are committed to making sure the “Little Lives” they care for every day grow up healthy and strong.
We are a regional provider of care to critically ill and injured children as a Level I Trauma Center, a designation we have held since 1989 and reinforced in 2010 with our verification as a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. This separate pediatric verification recognizes our distinctive expertise in caring for children in emergency situations.
Health care for children is offered at multiple sites across the Twin Cities metro area including the HCMC neighborhood clinics and our downtown primary care and multispecialty Pediatric Clinic. Extended hours on evenings and weekends are available at our downtown Minneapolis location.
We are an expert group of pediatric doctors and nurses providing top-notch care to children from birth through age 21. We offer routine services including well child exams and vaccinations as well as care for when your child is sick. Because we are also a multi-specialty clinic, we have experience and expertise in treating a wide variety of serious and life-threatening health conditions.
The families we serve come from many cultural and ethnic groups. Interpreters are always available to meet the needs of our non-English speaking families. Several permanent staff members are also bilingual.
We have a long-standing commitment to our community and partner with families to ensure that children are healthy and thriving.
