Starting May 1st, 2017, Medica will no longer be a PMAP (Prepaid Medical Assistance Plan) option for a large percentage of our patients insured through Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare. Patients who currently have Medica Choice Care or Medica MinnesotaCare plans will have these plans through 04/30/2017.
Paying for Your Health Care Services
All patients should have a plan to help pay costs when they need care and protect them from very high expenses. In fact, all U.S. citizens and legal residents are now required to have health insurance coverage or pay a tax penalty.
A Plan for Everyone
Plans come in many forms. Whatever your plan may be, the important thing is that it helps you and your family pay for your medical expenses and achieve health and wellness.
- Your employer may have offered you and your family health coverage.
- If coverage is not available through an employer, Minnesota residents can use the MNsure online marketplace to shop for and buy affordable health insurance that covers the care they need, including doctor visits, hospital stays, emergency services, preventive care, prescriptions, and more. Using MNsure, you may even quality for a low-cost or free plan, or for a tax credit and payment assistance to lower your cost.
- If you do not qualify for any coverage through MNsure, you may be eligible for the Hennepin Care discount program offered by Hennepin County Medical Center.
- And lastly, your plan may be to pay for your services directly.
If you don't have a plan yet—or if you ever happen to find yourself without one—we will do our best to help you find one that works for you through our financial counseling services.
